Repository of eMapps.com content

A new deliverable has been developed under eMapps project in order to expose reusable eMapps.com content to other projects and services through a standards-based and fully interoperable eMapps.com repository infrastructure: http://minor.emapps.eun.org

The eMapps.com repository was designed as independent software. It is an instance of an open-source software named “Minor Is Not an Object Repository” (MINOR). MINOR is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). It relies on open standards to make available open resources. It natively supports the connection to the Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) ( http://lre.eun.org ) [Massart 2007], a pan-European federation of learning resource repositories primarily developed within the CALIBRATE ( http://calibrate.eun.org ) and MELT ( http://info.melt-project.eu ) projects with support from the European Commission’s IST and eContent plus programmes.

The eMapps.com repository is deployed at the address http://minor.emapps.eun.org whereas its source code is available as a sourceforge project at http://sourceforge.net/projects/minor/

The development of the eMapps.com repository has permitted the following accomplishments:

  • Metadata: An eMapps.com LOM Application Profile (see deliverable D7) to properly describe the learning resources produced during the eMapps.com project.
  • Query Language: PLQL, an abstract query language developed in collaboration with the ProLearn Network of Excellence. This language can be used to search learning resources.
  • MINOR v1.0, v2.0, and v3.0: The three different versions of the eMapps.com repository that were released during the project.
