Elfa is an (SME) established in 1991 by staff members of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Technical University (TU) of Kosice to function on the basis of being Business Incubator for Technical Universities.. The company is oriented towards education and implementation of ICT into education processes. The main goals of the company are to transfer new education methods and services from academia to praxis, to provide high quality, learner-centred eLearning solutions and services, rich media content production, pedagogical, project management and consulting services. Its divisions include Education ang, Research and Development, Computer Systems and Networks. It participates in research, development and training projects
elfa creates and implements web based solutions and services to help customers develop their needs and competencies, combining business and pedagogical expertise with the possibilities offered by information technology.
elfa has participated actively in several EU (Leonardo da Vinci) projects as coordinator and contracted partner, including::
- TELEHUMAN (Human Resources Support for Managing Modern Telecommunication Networks)
- DEPSIS (Distance Education Program for Staff Responsible for IS Sector Support in Companies)
- EVI www.evi-incubator.net European Virtual Incubator for Training and Support High-tech SMEs,
- Other projects such as NetCampus, HELEN and TRADI..
elfa is experienced in software development and especially in development of virtual training infrastructure and multimedia training courses and is an authorised testing center for VUE and ECDL.
Its current project is EDUSER www.eeduser.com involving portal engine development in which an LMS has been developed that is flexible, reliable, scalable and easy to use, with features including: Content Management, Tutor / Student Interaction – virtual classroom etc. .The project results were presented during at a number of international exhibitions in Brussels, Karlsruhe, Prague, Copenhagen and Bratislava. The company has also been involved in many national joint projects dealing with ICT. Elfa coordinates the largest training project in Slovakia, financed by the Ministry of Education, which aims to provide training for 3.500 LAN managers (one manager for every secondary school in the Slovak Republic http://pvspu.elfa.sk/.
elfa acts as an Accredited Training Institute (ME), Microsoft educational partner (coordinator of the MSITA program in Slovakia) and Local CISCO Networking Academy. elfa provides distance education programs based on videoconferencing and web oriented infrastructures and also custom based courses. The company works in close co-operation with Technical university of Kosice in building an experimental training segment for offering multimedia services such as tele-teaching and tele-education.
