Hospital school is a part of http://www.bolnisnicna-sola.si/ Ledina Elementary School, the oldest elementary school in Ljubljana (150 yrs). We are located in the centre of Ljubljana in the Pediatric clinic.
There are 23 teachers, and specialist pedagogues. They teach the curricula of elementary schools, schools for less able pupils and therapeutic activities. They also help High School students individually. Lessons are organized on different wards and clinics for hospitalised pupils: Pediatric Clinic, Surgery, Orthopaedic Clinic, Dermathological Clinic, Nephrologic Clinic, Centre for dialysis and transplantation, Clinic for Infectious diseases, Institute for Rehabilitation Soča.
Next to our regular curriculum we also organize other days of special interest, to brighten the hospital life of our pupils. Poets, writers, artists, sportsmen, and other people help us to create and perform on cultural, scientific, sports and technical days. These days are often included in the projects. Every day creative workshops and activities are going on in our hospital school.
All hospitalised pupils can see their articles published in the special newspaper UTRINKI (The Sparks).
Children from all over Slovenia are gathered in our school, some stay for shorter periods of time, while some may stay for extended periods of time. It is because of this, that we can keep our work groups small and diversified. We are also trying to expand the learning possibilities of our pupils by using new technologies and by using modern methods of teaching.
