The Puzzles
The mystery and the main task of the whole game were to find out the identity of unknown person, with the help of cipher introduced in a short movie. The cipher was based on eight parts and each part could be opened with a different key.
The key was given to the players after success in competitions. This is the example of the cipher:
QDVQHCQDPBMHVYHWFHPDSDWURQHPFHVNHCHPH,YCGHODQFHPHYURSVNHKRIRUPDWX - 1258
To help children to solve the cipher, they were given a key, saying that you get the right letter if you move the current one three positions right in the alphabet. So, when A is converted into D, B is converted into E, etc… Seeing that game is divided into three levels reflecting the score of the game in platform Emapps.com, children were given extra hint for success in first level - the number near every cipher tells the link of the cipher on the Internet – so, in our case: http://naske.webpark.cz/1258/ .
This information could have been used for solving the cipher more effectively because of the electronic form (at the beginning of the game were the information just in printed form). After succeeding in second level, we gave players a link for online tool , which could help them to solve the cipher very easily just with copying the cipher and pasting it into a decoder, which reveal the result immediately. Moreover, the team in the classroom could play a PC game called THE MAZE, where player, in case of success, obtained code of one cipher, which also could be used in order to unlock the cipher.
We will show you some models as an example of tasks, which was given to children during the game. Tasks were comprehensive, because bachelors knew the description of the task, but they had to send orders to the wanderers about what to do in terrain. Actions of the both parts of team appeared on the platform EMAPPS.COM. One level of the game was made from three smaller tasks, in simplified rules description.
The Hussite weapons
The area of monastery is near to the places where in the Middle Ages Hussite fights used to take place. Children are simultaneously learning in traditional way about these battles and ways of fighting used by Hussites.
Crossword
One of the tasks was to solve the crossword. The hitch was, that on the one side bachelors could see the whole structure of the crossword, but they didn’t have the complete legend. On the other side, the legend could be found by wanderers, when the legend was placed on leaves fallen down all over the terrain.
The Anthem of Hussite
Children in terrain had to complete the Hussite warrior song from the leaves and then record it to the dictaphone. At the same time, bachelors had to find the text of Hussite anthem “Who are the God´s warriors” on the Internet, then paste it into a text editor, give it a link with text’s location and save it to the game platform.
Baroque
Within the framework of another task, children had a detailed photo of monastery in their cell phones, but one part of this photo was missing. Because of this, wanderers had to find the place, where the photo had been taken and sent it to the bachelors.
Monastery Establishment
The wanderers found a fable about the establishment of monastery, but some of the Czech words had been substituted with their English equivalents. Wanderers had to translate English words into Czech words and bachelors had to make out a small dictionary in a figure editor.
Former History
In the next task, bachelors obtained a PDF document on the platform EMMAPPS.COM, which briefly described the latest history of the monastery. Wanderers found a similar document in their cell phone.
